Twenty thousand years ago early humans found that they could mix earth and water together to fashion objects that
were both useful and decorative. When they subjected those objects to fire, they were rendered durable. Much of the
earliest pottery was used to store food and water.
I honor those traditions, using ancient methods to form vessels that are biomorphic in shape and informed by the
geology of the desert.
Today, we face critical drought conditions. Our ground waters are depleted and our rivers are running dry.
